The Penn National Gaming on Thursday February 5, 2009 was the latest company to decide on plans to building a luxurious new casino in the Atlantic City.

It is surprising to note that business investors are daring over again regardless of the melting monetary situation of the Atlantic City with competition from legalization in neighboring states and online gaming companies; however, the CEO still expresses concerns about competition and choice of location for construction.

The Penn National Gaming, which is a Wyomissing, Pa., firm declared in a statement which was made along side its fourth-quarter earnings that it will not impose its option to construct the new casino in Route 30 in the area, which is far away from the already existing 11 casinos out there. The chairman and CEO of the company, Peter M. Carlino, stated this is liable to the current market conditions, though.

Penn National's casino would have been the first not on the Boardwalk, where eight casinos are located, or the Marina District, where three others are located. The company's 23-acre site, about a mile away from the other casinos, is in an area best known for sewage smells and traffic jams, and had drawn stiff opposition from nearby residents.

After the statement several calls flew to the company, but the company officials did not instantly return calls which required comments on whether Penn National still continues to be constructing or purchasing a casino elsewhere in the Atlantic City. Past experiences of the company has trained them to work silent

However, a 150-acre tract is commonly considered to be one of the most probable development sites in the entire East Coast, and it shows some potential to support new casinos.
